Llama
fiber is long and fine. Like alpaca it is a hollow fiber so it
is warmer than wool of the same weight. Llama fiber ranges greatly
in micron. Baby llamas can have fiber as soft as baby alpacas
at about 20 microns. More frequently their fiber is over 30 microns.
Often llama fiber has guard hair which can be very coarse. Peace
of Yarn offers llama top which is approximately 27.5 microns.
It is currently offered in three colors: vanilla, almond and chocolate.

Llamas are members of the camelid family. They reach an average
weight of 250-500 pounds and have a lifespan of 15-25 years. The
gestation period is 350 days, resulting in a single baby (cria)
weighing between 20-35 pounds. Llamas are intelligent, sensitive
animals and are quick learners.
